Elena Fokina

Elena Fokina is an internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer, director and actress. She has been a member of Ultima Vez for over 15 years and collaborated with Wim Vandekeybus on numerous creations both on stage and film.

Elena has started her dance education at the University for Culture and the Russian Academy for Theatrical Arts in Moscow. In 1998 she graduated with a choreographer and teacher degree. Her first professional experience comes with the Russian Chamber Ballet Moscow. In 2001 she joins Ultima Vez, directed by Wim Vandekeybus for the creations and tour of the following productions: «Blush» (2002), «What the Body Does Not Remember» (2002), «Sonic Boom» (2003), «Puur» (2005) «Spiegel» (2006), «Menske»(2007), «Oedipus / Bet Noir» ( 2011), «Booty Looting» (2012)»Talk to the Demon» (2013)
From 2015 until March of 2018 she is working as a dancer and teacher of contemporary dance for the Royal Swedish Ballet, in Stockholm. Participating in the following productions:
“Swan Lake”, Mats Ek (2015), “Juliet & Romeo”, Mats Ek (2016) “Korper”, Sasha Waltz (2016), “Bill”, Sharon Eyal (2016) “Puur”, Wim Vandekeybus (2018)
Apart from her dancing and teaching career Elena has created numerous choreographies on various companies and educational centers around Europe.
For her work on film Elena was nominated by Film Independent Spirit Award with Robert Altman Award for her role of Olga Ivanova in “SUSPIRIA” ( Luca Guadagnino ) in honour of her Outstanding Achievement and Creative Contribution to Independent Filmmaking.
Elena also was nominated by Russian International Horror Film Festival and Awards “DROP” with nomination for the International Contribution to the Development of Horror Genre in Film Industry.
