Patricia Vázquez

Patricia Vázquez Iruretagoyena was born in Spain and began her dance education in Alicante and continued at the Barcelona Theatre Institute, graduating with Degree in Contemporary Dance in 2002.

She began her professional career in IT Danza, Barcelona before moving to dance with Stadsteatern in Bern, Switzerland, under the direction of the Stijn Celis.

From 2007 to June 2015 he works in Cullberg Ballet, Stockholm (Sweden). Throughout her career, Patricia has danced pieces by Wim Wandekeybus, Jirí Kylián, Mats Ek, Johan Inger, Stijn Celis, Jefta Van Dinther, Gustavo Ramírez, Tilman O’Donell, Margrét Sara Gudjonsdottir, Benoit Lachambre among many others.

In parallel, Patricia Vázquez has been working as a choreography assistant since 2009, and has helped set pieces by Mats Ek and Johan Inger in companies such as Ballett am Rhein, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, Basel Ballet, Aterbaletto, NDT II, Semperoper Dresden or Stuttgart Ballet.

She has also worked as a tour manager and coordinated projects by emerging Swedish choreographers. She has a Master of Fine Arts specialising in choreography from the Stockholm School of Dance and Circus and is a somatic movement educator at the Body-Mind Centering® school.

Installed in Stockholm, she currently combines the teaching of somatic movement and Johan Inger’s repertoire in various schools and companies around the world.
